Spring Color: Yellow Bead Necklace

Two things I love about this necklace are it's striking color and the fact that the beads have movement. This means that the necklace has a subtle sound as it moves- almost like a rain stick. Because the butter colored bead lies beneath a more vibrant yellow, visual depth and weight is added. It looks like a Hawaiian lei.

Spring Color: Rainbow Lucite Bracelet

The matching bracelet to the necklace I posted a few days ago. Wearing them together might be too much so I gave them a little room to breathe on the blog as well.

Christian Dior Logo Brooch

I bought this brooch this weekend, and while I normally think brooches are dated looking and old fashioned, I'm quite excited about this one. Not because it is Dior alone, but also because it looks modern. Most women who wear brooches today do so because they want it to look vintage. They want to evoke a past the way women who wear hats do- it is costume. This brooch has the potential to look modern due to the graphic nature of the logo itself, and the rope texture the logo is spelled out in. I would suggest wearing it on a scarf with a layered look, or it could look too self-conscious.

1960's Bamboo Style Earrings

Faux bamboo is so popular in home furnishings right now I thought someone would love these earrings. They make me think of summer.

YSL Graduated Bead Necklace

This fantastic YSL necklace is made up of ribbed gold-tone beads in graduating sizes that get bigger at the middle. It lands a bit below the chest, and would look perfect with a summer caftan or oversized linen top.

Spring Color: Rainbow Lucite Necklace

I'm feeling bright, bold colors in accessories for spring. I know everyone is doing layered colors and textures like patchwork but I'm thinking a cleaner approach works better with the prints we're seeing in clothing. I love the colors in this necklace, which has a matching bracelet I'll post separately. The lucite drops remind me of gummy bears in both their color and shine. It is missing two of the secondary drops but, like an old chandelier, missing pieces can add to the charm of a found object.

80's Bijan Lucite Napkin Rings

These were probably a gift-with-purchase giveaway with some Bijan fragrance. As you know I love Lucite so I really love these elephant napkin rings, despite this unfortunate history. I have four boxes of these - which makes a 16 piece set. Can't wait to have a big dinner party and put them to use!

1980's Artisan Silver Cuff

Before you get too excited I have to warn you that I've already sold this piece. I showed it in my case for only one week, then took it out deciding I should hold onto it. A customer that saw it in that week came back for it and I ended up selling it to her. It is a really spectacular piece that is heavy and sits on about 6" of your forearm. Although it is unsigned I am sure this was created by an important artisan jeweler. The new owner is a very lucky girl.

Salvatore Ferragamo Logo Belt

This Ferragamo belt has a high polished black leather and omega logo buckle. A little bit preppy which can be fun as spring rolls around.

Caron Bellodgia

Another vintage fragrace- this one is Caron's Bellodgia. It is wrapped up in logo paper and has never been opened. I have no idea what the bottle inside looks like but am dying to find out. The fragrance Bellodgia was inspired by the town of Bellagio, which rests on the shores of Lake Como. It was originally launched in 1927.

Chunky Wood Bead Necklace

The black wood beads on this necklace look like building blocks we would have played with as children. They are tied onto a simple black cord with knots between each one. It is chunky and playful but I love the graphic effect of it's all black coloring. It was probably homemade.

Faberge Tigress Dusting Powder

I posted another Faberge powder a few months ago in the Woodhue scent.

Miss Dior Eau de Cologne

This package stands out to me as something a collector of designer ephemera would love. Nearly full bottle of Miss Dior Eau de Cologne in houndstooth packaging, complete with box and atomizer. Smells amazing too!

Lanvin Arpege Dusting Powder

Lanvin Arpege Talc

I found a bunch of vintage designer dusting and body powders and also some perfume. I'll post photos today and tomorrow.

This one is marked on the bottom "Arpege Talc." I'm not sure how it is different from the Arpege dusting powder I'm going to post next since they have almost identical packaging. They're fun as a pair on your vanity. Also they are both unopened.

Lucite Earring Collection

As many of you know, I love love love Lucite. I love it colored and I love it clear. I love it faceted or smooth and rounded. Mostly I love it thick. I found these earrings (and some others) today after a tip from my boyfriend. They've already been placed in my case at Wertz Brothers and are priced at $65 per pair.

Fun Furnishings

One of the things that has kept me so busy this past month is that I finally got a booth at Wertz Brothers. I've had the jewelry case since last April and with a booth you can build a much bigger presentation. It allows for bigger objects but requires much more attention, which I'm now learning. I'm still getting the details down but these are two of my favorite pieces from the booth. The wall chandelier up top is just incredible. I have $850 on it but it could easily be $3000 in the right place. The "trunk" is carved to resemble a tree and the bulbs are covered by crystals. It's a little bit Liberace, and that doesn't scare me. The second photos is of two very old Chinoiserie night stands. They are laquered red with hand painted gold vignettes. These are priced at $1150.

A Month of Finds

The past month has been a bit hectic for me and I haven't had much time for photographing or describing for the blog. I still haven't had much time but I've managed to take some photos of my case at Wertz Brothers to show you some of my new finds (and some old friends are present as well). Hopefully next week I'll have a chance to show off some new stuff with better images.

A lot of older pieces here including the Nina boots, lion necklace, Dior cufflinks, antique doctor's bag. Some new chains and the lucite fishbowl necklace.

The sailor necklace and Bottega bag have been seen. The red plastic chain is new, as are the vintage Calvin Klein blue suede heels.
More new stuff in here.. top shelf has a 1940's reversible Paris souvenier bracelet, carnelian necklace, Nina Ricci earrings, Moschino earrings, a lambskin purse (very Chanel), and a woven straw convertible clutch. Second shelf has a Balmain quilted bag, Gucci keyring, baby calfskin clutch and some other pieces you've seen already. Don't mind the 15% off sign- Wertz is having their twice yearly sale right now.

You've seen the Nina booties and the Carlos Falchi bag. On the left is a set of vintage printed YSL hankies in the box, on the right is a Diane Von Furstenberg straw beach mat (rolled up in printed canvas) and some 80's plastic chain necklaces.

Sterling and Copper Artisan Made Earrings

These earrings are a real work of art. The hand hammered and cut sterling silver plate is punctured to allow a copper hoop to pass through it. At the base of the hoop is an almond shaped piece of copper. Every bit of these earrings is hand made and the slight inconsistencies show the hand of the maker throughout. They are stamped "sterling" on the back.

Lagerfeld Fan Charm Bracelet

This lovely gold tone Karl Lagerfeld bracelet has signed fan charms hanging from the chain link. I don't have to remind you that, along with his sunglasses and powdered hair, the fan he carried was one of Lagerfeld's signatures. He was never seen without it. The toggle closure is also signed, Karl Lagerfeld Paris. This is a heavy, substantial piece.

Wood Bangle with Pearl Bead Detail

I like the varying sizes on the pearl beads and the tone and grain of the wood on this one. Fun for layering.

1950's Copper Necklace

This necklace has been polished to such a high shine it almost looks like rose gold to me. Beautifully made copper chain with copper beads every few inches- look at the way they are linked into the chain. It is extremely long and can be worn doubled (possibly even tripled) or long. Depending on your height it will probably land below the belt line. This is the kind of modern copper jewelry that looks fresh and new right now.

Spring Color: Carlos Falchi

This is a stunning example of Carlos Falchi's masterful use of exotic skins. He carefully weaves electrified snake and lizard skins to create a unique collage of color and texture. The best detail is the snakeskin pulled through a non functioning buckle. This is a convertible clutch, so it can be worn on the shoulder for day and in hand at night.

Spring Color: Bottega Veneta

I have to admit, when I first approached this bag I assumed it was a Faux-ttega Veneta. To my surprise, it turned out to be real! I love the chevron weave and the braided shoulder strap, but most of all I love the colors.

Black Lucite Chain Necklace

This is the black one!

Brown Lucite Chain Necklace

I got this last week- there were two, one in brown and one in black. I love them both equally and I hope to keep them together. Whomever adopts them must treat them like siblings and never split them up!

Anne Klein Link Toggle Bracelet

Ever since Isabel Toledo took over at Anne Klein I've been buying up older accessories as fast as I can. I've always been into older Anne Klein but was nervous to buy, thinking that I'd have closets full of stuff no one wants. (I currently feel this way about Liz Claiborne). Donna Karan got her start at Anne Klein and often when I see a piece that Donna had to have designed, it is like finding an 80's Alaia. It is part of fashion history. Anyway, for now this gold tone toggle bracelet will have to satisfy us.
