Bold Pink Accessories, Part 2

A few months back I had another clutch made with the same exotic skin, and it was a hit. This patchwork frog skin bag can be worn as a clutch or on your shoulder.

Oscar de la Renta Peacock Convertible Clutch

Wear this bag on your shoulder or tuck in the chain and carry it as a clutch. The stitching mimics the pattern on a peacock feather and the jewel clasp provides a nice contrast to the soft black lambskin.

Brass Fruit Mini Bag

This handmade brass bag resembles a fruit and will hold just your essentials. Strung to a long silk cord, it sits just above the hip when slung across the shoulder.

Clutch with Jeweled Wild Cat Clasp

This is a convertible clutch in black satin with a decorated clasp flap. Gold leopard print covers the flap and a rhinestone covered pair of jaguar heads adorns it as well. The snap closure hides beneath. This can be worn as a clutch, or the shoulder strap may be employed for wear on the body. The label is Sharif, who is better known for their use of multi color patchwork in the 1980s

Quilted Lambskin Bag in Oyster

This is a great vintage lambskin bag, in the style of Chanel. The front flap is quilted with a subtle scalloped edge. The chain varies between gold chain and lambskin straps. This is a perfect day bag for someone who doesn't have a lot to carry.

Pierre Balmain Quilted Bucket Bag

I'm still very much excited about drawstring bags for spring and summer. This quilted navy Balmain bag is a bucket shape with gold hardware and a gold chain shoulder strap. It's diminutive shape makes it perfect for transitioning from day to night.

Lizard Bag with Chain Shoulderstrap

This is another bag with a distinctly 1950's feel to it. The body is lizard and it has an extra long gold chainlink shoulderstrap. Although the shape is not particularly modern, the chainstrap is in line with what most (fashion conscious) women are wearing today.

Grey Day Bag

It seems like every spring magazines are ushering in a "return" to femininity and ladylike dressing. These trends only trickle down to the street when vintage looks are relevant to today's women. I say vintage because, let's face it, this brand of femininity is a thing of the past. The super shine on this grey bag is of course reminiscent of Prada's patent leather bags and this is one reason I grabbed it. And while the shape isn't modern, the color and hardware are.

A Month of Finds

The past month has been a bit hectic for me and I haven't had much time for photographing or describing for the blog. I still haven't had much time but I've managed to take some photos of my case at Wertz Brothers to show you some of my new finds (and some old friends are present as well). Hopefully next week I'll have a chance to show off some new stuff with better images.

A lot of older pieces here including the Nina boots, lion necklace, Dior cufflinks, antique doctor's bag. Some new chains and the lucite fishbowl necklace.

The sailor necklace and Bottega bag have been seen. The red plastic chain is new, as are the vintage Calvin Klein blue suede heels.
More new stuff in here.. top shelf has a 1940's reversible Paris souvenier bracelet, carnelian necklace, Nina Ricci earrings, Moschino earrings, a lambskin purse (very Chanel), and a woven straw convertible clutch. Second shelf has a Balmain quilted bag, Gucci keyring, baby calfskin clutch and some other pieces you've seen already. Don't mind the 15% off sign- Wertz is having their twice yearly sale right now.

You've seen the Nina booties and the Carlos Falchi bag. On the left is a set of vintage printed YSL hankies in the box, on the right is a Diane Von Furstenberg straw beach mat (rolled up in printed canvas) and some 80's plastic chain necklaces.

Spring Color: Carlos Falchi

This is a stunning example of Carlos Falchi's masterful use of exotic skins. He carefully weaves electrified snake and lizard skins to create a unique collage of color and texture. The best detail is the snakeskin pulled through a non functioning buckle. This is a convertible clutch, so it can be worn on the shoulder for day and in hand at night.

Spring Color: Bottega Veneta

I have to admit, when I first approached this bag I assumed it was a Faux-ttega Veneta. To my surprise, it turned out to be real! I love the chevron weave and the braided shoulder strap, but most of all I love the colors.

Antique Doctor's Bag Purse

Also found in North Carolina, this is a stunning antique bag that I was so happy to find. I love the doctor's bag shape but often they are too big and clumsy. Not that big bags are always clumsy, but doctor's bags in particular are too wide to comfortably hold at your side. This is a mini size and has a chain shoulder strap. These two characteristics make this bag utterly wearable and totally comfortable. Because of it's age, the leather does have some wear which I don't mind at all. I may have it repaired but probably not. The brass hardware is also a little banged up but is so unique that it looks like a well earned patina. Notice the modern looking brass feet. Also the clasp- my favorite detail. This bag is definitely being tucked away as part of the permanent collection- I love it!

Aigner Logo Clutch

Well I'm in North Carolina visiting the family for Christmas and decided to venture out and do some shopping yesterday. I found a few pieces at much better prices than I usually find. This is a simple wine leather clutch by Etienne Aigner and has a medium sized brass logo fixed to one of the handles. I'm calling this flap a handle because I don't know what else to call it- there is one on each side and it makes it easier to hold onto the bag, which I found out while shopping as my arms filled up. The quality of the leather is high with a soft supple hand. In perfect condition and complete with logo printed lining. Has a spring framed top so it stays securely open and closed.

Italian Bead Evening Bag

This bag is quite old and very well made. Whomever made the bag actually crocheted each bead into the design- they were not applied afterwards. The chain is nice, varying between the black plastic beads and goldtone chain. With all the holiday parties coming up I thought this would make a nice casual evening purse.

1970's Gucci Oxblood Shoulder Bag

Since we're starting to see some more structured bags out there in human proportions, vintage bags are going to be a great option for women looking for something different. This very feminine shoulder bag in 1970's oxblood leather would make an elegant day bag. The serpentine interlocking G's look more like a design element than a big logo statement. Supple leather lines the bag which has one inside pocket and a snap closure under the logo.

Gucci Navy Triangle Shoulder Bag

The navy monogram logo is my second favorite Gucci monogram. My favorite is brown with orange G's. Navy suits this shape perfectly though because it is clean and modern and doesn't look too vintage. The triangle shoulder bag is one I have never seen before. It is the perfect size, especially since smaller shoulder bags are finally beginning to replace those ubiquitous giant totes. This bag worn with high waisted denim would be so right. It is in perfect condition and definitely authentic. The serial number is embossed in gold beneath the tag.

Gold Shell Convertible Clutch

These bags are not that hard to come by. What is rare about this one in particular though is that it has not been used so it is in perfect condition with no scratches, blemishes, or discolorations. I've been buying a lot of convertible clutches. They are perfect for this time of year when there are many parties and everyone is feeling festive. I particularly like those with chain straps that tuck inside the bag rather than a removable leather strap. There's something sexy to me about a woman pulling the chain off her shoulder and tucking it away into the bag she now holds in hand.

Chainmail Bag with Fringe Detail

If Whiting and Davis were looking to connect with fashion shoppers they'd just have to look to this bag for inspiration. This is so fresh and new looking to me yet at the same time looks almost medieval! I love the cool silver chainmail juxtaposed with gold fringe (they might be Eiffel Towers?) The long gold chain allows for the bag to be worn across the body and the size is perfect for your essentials. Take a closer look at the chain- it is a series of doubled rings. I can't get enough of this bag and would be happy to sell it to anyone willing to knock it off and make me several versions in many colors!

Ferragamo Envelope Clutch

This is another great convertible shoulder bag/clutch. It is envelope style with a gold tone chain strap (I've been all about chain straps lately). The strap can be tucked inside the bag to wear it as a clutch. The gold tone hardware on the front of the bag has the Ferragamo signature. Another great detail is the little corner protectors, which is a nice finishing touch.

Etienne Aigner Clutch/Shouderbag

Signature wine colored bag by Etienne Aigner. I like the simplicity of the design on this one and discreet logo rather than the huge gold A logos from the 70's that were big a few seasons ago. I also love that this is a convertible clutch/shoulderbag. Such a great bag for fall! The signature lining finishes off the bag nicely.
